I actually played with them better than i thought I would. I still did not play my best, but I was right on par with the rest of them. I got in two fights and didn't lose either one (I also didn't necessarily win either of them though). I didn't score at all, but I won about 60% of my faceoffs and had some good hits. I knew I could have played a little better offensively, but I thought that overall I played well enough to either be invited to the main training camp or at least be recommended to another team in the same league.
When I got to talk with the coaches, they told me that my size was a factor for playing in this league and that I should work on my overall game. Bull-SHIT! First of all, I put on some pretty good hits that took players right off their feet, and none of them were my size or smaller (one was even when the guy tried to hit me...he had me lined up with my head down, and I still layed him out). Second, I only fell from a hit twice that I can remember, and when I went down, I got right back up and in the play as if it never happened. Third, of my two fights, one guy was my size, and the other was much stockier than me, and neither of them could flat out win the fight. So no, size was not a factor at all.
As for my overall game...maybe they should take into consideration that my team three games in about 6-8 hours with only two lines of forwards. All other teams had more spaced out ice times with much more players. Every player on my team could not play to their potential. If they happened to watch the final game on the following day, they would have seen my crashing the net, making good sharp passes, and forechecking hard like I normally do. If they saw what was going on off the ice, they would know that my legs were so cramped up that I honestly could not physically move them. I had to have the trainer push my knee so that it would bend. And then of course, it would be time for a line change and I went onto the ice again. Maybe that was why they told me I had to work on my skating (even though that is my strongest skill).
So you know what, I'll just contact other coaches who might have room for a guy that plays hard every shift and can contribute to the betterment of the team. I'll just earn a tryout with somebody like the Ft. Wayne Komets, and when we play the Elmira Jackals and beat them, I'll make them wish they had taken me when they had the chance. I can play at that level. I know it.

wow...a new post

With the 4th of July in the recent past, it only seemed logical to update this thing. I had Tuesday off of work like most people in this country, but I did have to work Monday morning. So I decided that since my fiance was in France I could hed to Toledo on Monday afternoon and see some old friends. It was a good time there; it's always good to see friends. We watched the fireworks in Maumee, and then we all hung out at Sam's apartment for while. The next day I saw Dan, and after some wings and World Cup at B-Dub's, I headed back for Daleville and my new house...only to find that Mom had cleaned the entire thing. Thanks Mom!

While I was in Toledo, I met a guy who plays pro hockey. For those who I don't get to talk to very much, I have been getting the itch to play again, badly. The fire has been burning again and there are not too many times that I find myself not thinking about hockey. He told me to call him if I ever wanted some information to get a tryout in a minor league. All this just pushes me to find try and find a tryout even more. I can't wait to get back into competitive hockey again!

Well, I hope Sara reads this while she is in France, I miss you baby! I'm at your house right now with Grandma, Karen, and Arya. I know you probably miss Arya more than me, so I'll just let you know that shes doing fine. She was tired when I got to hold her, so she immediately started crying as soon as she saw my face. At least that is the excuse I am going to use, heh. I love you and can't wait to see you again!

a house!

i know i havent been on here in a while, but there is now some interesting news. i own a house! i know, i can barely believe it myself. its in daleville, and i dont think i could ask for a better set up. i am really excited about being a home owner. you should stop by and see it sometime.

7900 S. We had a new trainer in there today that Brad, my boss, just recently hired. Towards the end of the day when there were about 2 or 3 clients left, Brad informed me that he had to take off, and he was leaving me in charge. This act made me feel very proud of myself. My boss trusted me enough to run the entire facility in his absence. I had to watch the clients, make sure our newest employee understood how we ran everything, answer questions clients may have had, and close and lock everything up.

The whole thing just made me realize something as I was typing this blog out. Sometimes all you need to feel an extra bit of confidence in yourself, is to receive it from someone else. Brad's confidence in me made me more confident of myself. Instead of worrying if I was ready to handle the extra responsibility and questioning myself, all I had to say was, "Brad trusts me, why should I not trust me?" Thank you Brad for your confidence.

the perfect day

i know that i have not posted in a while, but now i have some breaking news that is definately worth telling the world.

if i was ever to have a perfect day, it wouldve been saturday may 6, 2006. i started off running a mini-marathon with sara and her brother-in-law, rajeev. after the race i took sara to a park in downtown indianapolis. as we were walking along the creek that ran through the park, i told sara to stand in front of a tree and i would take her picture. when she turned around, instead of holding the camera, i was on my knee holding a ring.

thats right folks, i proposed. im gonna be getting married. we spent the next couple of hours by ourselves, but eventually met up with our families at the old spaghetti factory. my mom made a couple of cakes, and we all had a good time celebrating. dinner went long, but it was a lot of fun.

it was a long day, but a perfect day.

Future Connections

In my EXSCI 190 class, which is the intro to the major, we have been having guest speakers come in so that we can get different perspectives on different areas inside the field. Today was a nice lady from BSU talking about sports nutrition. My attention peaked when she commented on the fact that she got her start in professional hockey. She continued to speak of different conditions inside the sport of hockey that made nutrition, and everything else, unique. I decided to talk to her after class. I felt like I was making a connection. We both knew hockey and were interested in exercise science. Also, it felt like a potential professional connection. She teaches the two nutrition courses that I will eventually have to take for my EXSCI major and Sports Medicine minor. Hopefully it could turn into a good letter of recommendation for grad school, or a connection for an internship. Either way I felt like I did that little extra effort to meet her and hopefully have an inside track to my ultimate goal, the NHL.

Twice this week

My history class got cancelled for the second time this week "due to Professor illness". I was having trouble the entire time trying to get it done, including a couple late nights. But now it's overwith and the only bad parts to look forward to are chemistry and finals.

I was debating whether or not to come back to school next fall. I finally figured out that it was only at times when I was writing huge papers for classes I didn't care about, or when I was in chemistry that I didn't want to come back. I love my exercise science classes, and I really look forward to more of them, I just hate chemistry. So I will be back this coming fall, and hopefully with a little more ambition to do better.

Carol is trying to get me a summer job with one of her brothers. It's at a paving company, so I will be doing road construction. It'll be hard work, but would you pass up a job that pays so good? He told me, "Landon, if you have any hopes or plans to marry Sara, then never hold yourself above her. I didn't treat ____ as well as I should have and I lost her." Thanks. He was one of those guys that just made you feel welcome and better about being where you were. He also plays hockey, which contributed a little towards me liking him, heh. I still have a couple papers to write that I have not yet started and stuff like that.

I thought that I would have a lot of extra time to sleep in, rest up, and workout while on spring break as usual. We've had some good times in the few days that we have been here. Although I would agree that Vegas is a place to go with your buddies for a couple days, it has been fun with my family. I'm up from some roulette playing, we saw a variety show, visited a national park (where we met a family from Muncie), and Kyle fell and hit his head on some rocks. Tomorrow we are going to go snowboarding. I'm looking forward to that. The rest of the week should go well hopefully. I hope I can keep turning my winnings into more winnings (knock on wood).

Security!

Last Saturday was the "Muncie Gras", as some of you probably already knew, maybe all too well. However, that night I worked at the hotel, which is located just one block from the party. The hotel is 7 stories high with 24 rooms on each floor, and we were full. I started the night at 5 o'clock by washing dishes for the restaurant, as I normally do. There were a few things different this night however.

First, our restaurant was packed. That in itself is not normal. Plus we had two large banquets going on at the same time. From the time I walked in, I never got a break. My station was packed with dishes the entire night. I would start to make what seemed vaguely like progress, and then banquet would come unload about another, what seemed like, 50 dishes. Another unusual part of the night came after the washing. The hotel wanted me to work security. I ended up working a 12 hour shift, but I stayed pretty busy since Mardi Gras was going on and the hotel had so many guests.

Tony was supposed to get off at about 10 or 10:30, but didn't end up leaving until about 1 or 2. He and I showed a group of about 4 ghost hunters around a couple rooms in the building since our hotel is supposedly haunted. I caught a middle-aged couple making out on the stairwell, had an interesting experience with a mother and adopted daughter, and broke up a fight at 4:50 in the morning.

I still haven't really caught up on my sleep yet. I have had a busy week, but I guess it doesn't help that I spend so many nights at Tony's new place now. I don't usually get as much sleep there as I would at home, but he's my good friend and I like hanging out with him.

I Tried to be a Good Student

It's no secret that my chemistry class has been the hardest on me this semester. I have traveled to Taylor to seek help from people that Sara knew, and have talked to some people about it. I finally decided to skip running today to attend a study session that the student assistant conducts. I had thought that maybe going to the study session might help me more since it was in a smaller setting and I might be able to get some one-on-one help from somebody that obviously understood chemistry very well.

I was mistaken. When I got to the classroom, what did I find? Nothing. The room was dark and empty with no signs of any type of class convening any time soon. The session was supposed to start at 3:00. I got there at 3:02, according to my cell phone time. So when I even skipped something I find important to try and learn and pass a class, I get nothing. School has been fine this semester, except for chemistry. It seems that everytime I go to chem class, do chem homework, or do anything related to chemistry, it justs frustrates me so much that it makes me want to quit college.

Taylor

Instead of staying in the normal routine yesterday, Tony and I decided to go up to Taylor and workout with Sara. Usually we go to the "Y" right after I get out of class, but since we both had the day off of work, we waited a little longer and went to Upland. Sara ran while Tony, Kyle (yes, he came down from Michigan), and I all did our usual weight routine. We tweaked it a little bit, but busted our butts and got a very good workout in. It was one of the better ones that we have had so far.

Afterwards, we all went back to my house and mom made dinner. There is at least one benefit to living at home while you go to college, Mom's home cookin'! It was very good eating, and we had a good time together. All in all it was a good day.

Ok, I think I have joined the group that Liz likes to call "people that have blogs should blog, but you don't, so you're stupid". But I think I have a pretty good excuse since I have two jobs and am also a full-time student. It just doesn't seem like I have a lot of extra time, and honestly, blogging is not one of my top priorities when I do have time off (sorry Liz).

Anyway, let's move on. The olympics are on, and I always like to watch olympic hockey. I haven't been able to see many of the games, because, once again, well....you know. But the U.S. team does not seem to be doing the best. It's sad, but it looks like they might still be able to get into the medal round. Surprisingly the Canadian team hasn't been doing well either. They were the obvious favorites for the gold, and they have not scored in two full games. They lost to the Swiss. The Swiss! This is a team that owns a roster of maybe two (?) NHLers against a team that boasts, well, possibly the best Canadian team ever, or least one of them.

Anyway, go USA, and maybe I will get back on this thing more often. We'll see.

Two Part Confession

Ok, so I will tell everyone my confession. I cried the most tonight as I have since.....well.....since I can remember. The reason why may cause you to chuckle a bit. I was watching a movie. But it wasn't just a sappy chick flick that you would normally think someone might sob a bit at. It was Rudy, arguably one of the best movies ever. I cried because I could relate to what he was going through. Don't get me wrong. I am not comparing myself to him, or that I went through the same thing, or that I did the same thing. Not at all. I am only saying that I played sports too, and I know what it is like to be the underdog. So when he finally makes it and lives his dream, I can only imagine what it would be like to do the same. That is why I cried. I could see myself trying to do the same thing, and then living it. I could only imagine what it would be like to score my first NHL goal. So to Rudy, wherever you are, congratulations. I don't think anybody will ever accomplish what you did. You really are someone that people admire, and I am one of them.

The Job

I finally got a job! Tony found an opening for a dishwasher at the hotel he works at, the Hotel Roberts. It is the nicest hotel in Muncie. Although I was technically not supposed to start until the other guy was fired, I have already worked two full days since they were short on help. I like it much better than working at Wal-Mart; actually I think I would like working anywhere more than Wal-Mart. Tony said I should be getting about 40 hours a week, which could be a heavy load while being a full-time student, but I have it planned out and I am looking forward to it. Tony and I can start looking for a house now!

Today, I took some plates up to the banquet area, and as I was stacking them, they fell. Four clean glass plates dropped to the tile floor. BANG! But no breaks. Not even a chip. I was amazed. I think God had a hand in me not getting fired after my second day.

Raquetball, among others

Tony beat me for the first time in raquetball yesterday. Since we started playing he has caught on quite quickly and our games are starting to get very competitive, just like everything is with the two of us. However, the next three games that we played, I won. So I had the higher overall score. Thats right Tony, I'm still the champion.

I also went and played hockey again last night. I travelled down to Indy once again with Dan and Mark, this time to Pan Am. We played a little pick up hockey, with just enough people two lines of forwards and "D" for both teams. However, Dan and I were on the same team, but after the two of us the talent level dropped significantly. I'm not saying that Wednesday night adult pick up hockey should be played like there are scouts in the stands, but we like to play to win. It was hard to do when it seemed like we were the only two on the team that new where to be and how to play. I will give you an example, if you are a left wing, you stay on the left side of the ice in the defensive zone. I was the center and I would be down low covering my area, and all of a sudden my left wing was there right beside me. So I would move to cover his side, and he would follow me (not I purpose I think). It just got sort of frustrating. Oh well, we still had a good time playing and hanging out.

In other news, Carol gets back home tonight. I guess Sara is going to see her when she arrives at Taylor with the rest of the group, and the rest of the family is going out with her tomorrow, but I can't since I have to be at the rehearsal dinner for the wedding. So I will stop by the house and see her tomorrow morning.

Old Friends

I saw my friend Josh again. It has been a struggle for me to lift regularly when I am not at Studio 22. In BG, classes filled time and it was hard to find someone to go to the gym with. Now, Tony and I have been going to the YMCA. Tony is a great partner because we are both at about the same level, and we are both very competitive, especially with each other. Neither one of us wants the other to beat us. Also, we make sure the other will be there everyday. We do weights Monday, Wednesday, and Friday while playing raquetball on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

After one of my workouts I stopped by the church office to see Jim. I haven't gotten much of a chance to talk with Jim since I have been back because he is always busy on Sundays. I originally had planned to go and ask if there was anything I could do volunteering, but it turned out to just be a great time hanging out with Jim Marker again. You da man Jim! He gave Tony and me a super insane workout to tryout, but I think secretly he is just trying to kill us.

Random

Now I have one week of Ball State under my belt, and I am on my second. I guess this doesn't really make me a long-time student, but I am growing more familiar with how things run here as opposed to BG. I really enjoy my exercise science class. That would probably be a good thing since it is my major. The professor reminds me a lot of Julie Benbow. It's not because of her gestures or the way she talks, they simply look almost exactly alike. And you know how usually when you see someone and they look like someone else, but when you see them close up, they look nothing alike? Well, when I saw professor Skalon up close, I thought that it was even more apparent.

I hope that Carol is doing good in India. She led a team from Taylor over there for the month of January, and it has been a while since I have seen or talked to her, but Sara said she got an email and things were going well. That's good. Of course, I'm sure most of you knew this already. I started my first adult league game last night, and it went fairly well. I say fairly well because although I was playing on the first line, the power play, got the most ice time I ever have (and maybe the most on the team), I still got thrown out of the game and suspended for one additional game. I will elaborate:

There are three guys on the team that I knew before I walked into the locker room, my good friend Deaner, his Uncle Dan, and Mark. Mark was playing defense while I was on the ice for this particular shift. He decided to skate the puck into the zone. The defender on the other team decides to play it rough and give him a good check (in a no-checking league). They start to throw some fists and I joined in to protect my teammate since I was right there because I had been trailing Mark looking for a drop pass. Everyone else decides to come in as well. As I am pushing the guy that had started stuff with Mark, he puts his glove in my face and is shoving me and so forth. I push him back to get him off of me. Evidentally you are not allowed to defend yourself either in this league because I was the only player ejected from the game because "I kept going and didn't stop when the refs told us to".

I proceeded to the showers and as I am in there Mike Berger walks in. Mike runs the league and is the biggest hockey player I have ever met. May I add that he used to play in the NHL and not because he was the most skilled player. He coached my rival team when I was in high school, but he took a liking to me and got me some junior tryouts. When he found me he let me know that I was now on his shitlist. I guess he just doesn't like new young guys coming into his league and getting tossed out in their first game. This is one guy whose bad side I would like to avoid, and not just because of his intimidation, I respect the guy. You never feel good when you are on the bad side of someone you look up to. He's been there, and I admire that.

So, overall I had a good time. I played decent and met some new people. I also got to hang out with my friend Deaner which doesn't happen much now that he has moved to Richmond. I look forward to playing with my new team and trying to get off of Berger's shitlist.

Chi-Town

So Sara finally got back. Finally! It was great to see her again, and we celebrated by going to the amazing city of Chicago. Dad, Mom, Kyle, and Zak came along also. We spent the night in an old, cool hotel after eating at the Cheesecake Factory (mmmmmm). We spent the next day just walking around Chicago. We split up, Sara and I, Kyle and Zak, and Mom and Dad. I haven't been to Chicago for a few years and I hadn't remembered much of it. It is a really cool place and I wouldn't mind living there someday. I bought some "new" hockey gloves. They were game worn by Steve Thomas when he played for the Blackhawks.

But the best part of the trip was that night - at the Blackhawks game vs. the Blues. I have now been to three Blues games this season, and none of them have been in St. Louis. They beat the Hawks (thank goodness), and it was a good game. 2-1 was the final score, and Chicago was getting some chances at the end of the game. It was a great time.

Now, tonight, I am heading to my friend Caleb's house for a pre-New Year's Eve party. And I am going to see another friend, Joanna. There, I wrote about you. You should love me now.

All in all, Chicago was a fun time, and I am very happy to see Sara again. I love you baby!

Christmas Time

It's Christmas! I love Christmas. It is by far the best time of the year. I think this whole Christmas break is going to be a great one though. I've already been snowboarding and got to hang out with my cousins and friends in Michigan for a couple days. Then Sara gets back from
Florida and we get to go to Chicago to see the Blackhawks play the Blues, and all that is without even having Christmas yet when I can see my whole family. Also, I get to see my cousin, Dave, whom I haven't seen in a couple years as well as the rest of his family. Then, when break is over, I don't have to go all the way back to Ohio; I am staying close to friends and family, although I will be missing my friends from Toledo and my church. But I am excited to get more involved with my church back here, become closer to my old friends, and hopefully even make some new ones. I am also excited to get a job and a house with Tony. It will be exciting to finally move out on my own and see what life is like outside the safety net of my parents.

So there is a lot going on this time of year, but it is all very exciting. I just can't wait to see Sara again and watch that hockey game.

I woke up a little before 5:00 today to drive Sara's family to the airport. They went to Florida for Christmas, again. I was invited to go, but of course was not able to. So I will not be able to be with her or her family for Christmas, and she won't be able to see my family either. But at least when she gets back we are going to Chicago for a Blackhawks/Blues game and a day on the town. Should be fun.

I am also done with BG. I was accepted to Ball State, so I am back in Muncie now. I made a lot of good memories in Toledo and have some really good friends back there (Dan and Sam, I will never forget you and I hope we can keep in touch), but this is where I need to be I am looking forward to what lies ahead and I am pretty excited about it.

Hmmm....

Have you ever wondered if you don't like to do something only because you are forced to do it? I think this is the case for me many times. For instance, my least favorite part of school is writing papers, yet I enjoy writing and keeping an online journal. Does this make any sense? If you are around me for long enough, you have probably heard me complain sometime about school, yet I watch the History Channel and am looking forward to reading a good book this Christmas break. One of my favorite activities is going to a Bible study and coming out learning something new or questioning in a way I had not thought previously.

I know for a long time that this was the case with my dad. I got so frustrated with him being so extremely picky, and now when I look back, I believe that I purposefully did not care about many things just because I knew that it was different from Dad. I didn't care when my last car wash was. I didn't care what my room looked like. I wanted to do things my way, not Dad's. I was my own man and I didn't need Dad to tell me how to do things.

Anyway, it was just a thought, and it turned into me ranting about my teenage rebellion. But I do wonder if the concept still holds true sometimes.

Finals Week

Now we are in the middle of finals week. I played fairly well, and the coach gave me more ice time than normal (although i STILL think I should've had more). Some of my good friends showed up to the game, and it was good to see some of them again. My friend Sam showed again, as well as my cousin Scott, who lives in Toledo. Turns Sam was in the youth group at Scott's church when he was in the band for the youth group. I thought it was really cool that one of my best friends knows my cousin, and I never knew that.

My mom's side of the family all came to my church on Sunday and we went out to Texas Roadhouse for an early Christmas dinner. It was a good time. Although it was possibly my last weekend in Toledo for a long time, Sara and I might come back for the New Year's party at Cedar Creek with the college group. Should be fun.

I DID IT!!!!

I finally did it. Everyone in the theatre was from the church, so they gave us a discount. Tickets were $7 for a 6:45 movie, and at a nice theatre. However, some people had bought extra tickets. So when I got there at about 6:43 (the roads were bad from the snow), Sam found one of these ladies, and she sold her extra ticket to me for $5 (geez dad, did you ever figure your bartering skills on the street would ever pay off for me at a church?). The movie was good, but I felt miserable.

I've had this bad cold that doesn't seem to want to go away. In fact, it continues to get worse. Today, my throat started to feel scratchy and i had no voice. Finally by the time I was watching the movie, it had turned into a full sore throat. I hate sore throats. I would almost rather write a 20 page paper than have a sore throat. If you ever want to get back at me for something, make sure I get a sore throat. I stopped by Kroger after the movie to pick up some medicine (you know I'm sick if I am buying medicine for myself). I want this thing to go away so bad! Hopefully it will be gone by 10:00 on Saturday so I can give myself a well played final game.

Another Tuesday Night

Instead of studying the Bible this week, we watched a movie again. It better come before I go back home and start playing in the old men's beer league.

Sorry for the Super-Mega-Huge Post

I know it has been a long time since I have said anything on here, but there is a good reason for that. Homework. Yes, homework is starting to pile up here at the end of the semester. But I think I'll be fine and get it all done. Hopefully anyway.

But put all that boring crap aside; I had a great weekend. First, Sara came up and it was good to see her again. She watched my game along with my parents, Dan and Katie, Sam, and my neighbor Ryan and his girlfriend Holly. It was fun to hear them scream for me and my team against Michigan. Last time we played Michigan they beat us 8-1 and we heard them laughing and making fun of us on their bench. Well we had enough of it and we wanted our respect back. We went out and earned it alright. We beat them 4-2 in our barn. I also got in a fight at the end of the game. But I wouldn't really call it much of a fight. To tell the truth I almost didn't put it on here because I was embarrased by it.

Anyway, the greatness continued to today. Dad thought it would be a good idea to drive to Detroit and see if we could get into the Wings/Blues game. We sure did. Mom and Sara waited by the arena while Dad and I went out looking to scalp some tickets. The first guys we saw had $22 tickets in the upper bowl, very top row. Their other two guys couldn't make it so they were trying to get some money out of the tickets. Dad got them and saved $4 from face value. But we still needed two more tickets. The next guy we see had some, but they were a little more expensive, and for good reason....row one, seat one and two. Right by the glass. And at a perfect angle so there was no distortion in the glass. Dad got those for under face value too (he's kinda good at this business type of stuff). And to make it better, the Blues won! So I had a marvelous time.

Tomorrow I'm planning on watching the Colts game with Dan and Sam, so I'm sure the good times will continue to roll for me through then. But after that I have to start my term paper. Not good times. But this was the best weekend I have had in a long time. Thanks to all who were involved. I love you all!

Also, I would like to put a special happy birthday out there to Amanda Boozier! Amanda you are like a sister to me, sorry I couldn't make to your party, but I'm sure you had a good time. I hope to see ya soon.

Things I want to do before I die:
1. I've never led a Bible study before, so this will be a first for me. I'm not really worried about it. It's not like we plan out an entire sermon or anything. We just find some verses that talk about what we have been thinking about or feeling, and then we discuss it. Not too difficult.

I had never read Job before, so I started to read it and I decided to lead tonight over it. I'm not really doing the usual "Job had so many horrible things happen to him and he stayed true" approach though. I'm doing it more from before everything happened, and some stuff during, just not "it's so horrible".

Oh yeah, I also don't like it when I'm bored and have nothing to do so I try to read some blogs and....nobody updates their blog! Then one day, as I was driving with Sara, I turned to her and said, "I can't quit hockey". "I know" is what she replied.

Well, now this decision has been haunting me again, and I have decided to follow up for real this time. I have put in my application to Ball State University which pretty much confirms the idea of me not playing professionally now. Ball State doesn't even have a club team or anything. I had planned on finishing the year at BG, but decided to go back for Spring semester. Why not? What would be the point of paying another semester of out-of-state tuition when I'm not even playing hockey anymore?

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't enjoy hockey anymore. I still plan on playing adult league and hopefully coaching someday. I just see myself going other places than pro hockey. I needed to get my priorities straight.

So I am moving back to my hometown. I called my friend Deaner, and we are gonna try to find a place together, and possibly one more to lower rent. I'm excited to live my good bud. It's should be some good times. And as much as I wanted to get out of town and form my own life, I am excited to come back and be with my friends and family. I will miss my friends from here, especially Dan and Sam, but I know that this is the right move. I hope that I don't lose contact with them. They are some great guys and I cherish their friendship.

Mark: You know you're missing your first class, right?
Me: What time is it?
Mark: 11:00. We had it last night, and afterwards decided to stay up and play some late night poker. I spent the night since I felt like doing so, and nobody else felt like moving their cars so I could get out either. Two very good reasons for staying.

My first class is 10:30 AM so I didn't have to get up early. However, when I did wake up this morning I remembered that my 10:30 class was not just a class today, but a test. A test that I did not study for. I was planning on studying when I got home from the Bible study, but I never went home now did I? I made it to class on time to review the pretest for a while that we had taken earlier. I ended up doing fairly well I believe/hope.

Caught up....for now

So after about a half week of staying up late to do homework, I am finally caught up. I got my paper and speech written, and done well. I need to send out a special thanks to Sara for helping me get past my writer's block and generate some good ideas. The final draft is due Monday, but I have a good start on it. It shouldn't be too difficult.

Now we are supposed to start finding a topic for our final, and most important, paper of the year. I have found a great topic and for once I am finally excited about writing a paper. The topic is "Does the Bible still relevant to today's society?" "If so, is all of it relevant, or parts of it?" "If only parts are relevant, what parts and who decides?"

Me & You

Everytime I hear the song "Me and You" by Kenny Chesney, I can't help it but to think of Sara. It reminds me of Courtney's wedding and how gorgeous she was that night. It makes me think of all the good traits that she carries. It gives me this sense of longing just to be with her. She pointed out that even on here it is better written than when I started. Well, I have a 4-page paper due tomorrow, and if I don't turn it in then the professor will not turn in my portfolio at the end of the semester. So basically I won't pass. The problem here is that I have a bad case of writer's block right now and concentrate for the life of me.

I also don't think I have ever written 4 pages. I say what I need to say and I'm done. I don't need to keep elaborating and going on. I usually just end up with a bunch of space filler b.s. nothingness. 3 pages is fine. But one more page can kill me. The fall is great too and is one of my favorite seasons, but winter is always fun.

First of all there is Christmas break. There is nothing like Christmas, which is by far the best holiday ever. The whole family is together and you wake up with no obligations except to have fun. Have fun with your immediate family and extended family. You get to see the part of your family that lives so far away (Canada for me). And even though sometimes some of your family can get on your nerves, it's still good to see them and be around them. On my dad's side, all of the cousins are roughly the same age and are all boys, so it goes without saying that we have a good time. One of our traditions is that the cousins always watch a James Bond movie (what more of a guy thing can you do at Christmas?).

Second, there is snow. Snow is great. You go out and play in it, sled on it, paintball in it, there are endless possibilities. And once you are done, you go inside with your friends to warm up and watch a movie. That is one of my favorite feelings, when you finally come in from outside with your friends and mom is standing there with cookies for you as you begin the movie. I don't know how to explain it other than it's wonderful.

One final great part about winter is there is no school. Who can argue this one. Even if you are like my father and absolutely hate the cold, snow, and virtually everything that comes with winter, you can't say that you don't enjoy not having school. Or at least didn't when you were in school. No obligations to papers or homework. Just staying up late at the New Year's party and then sleeping all day.

Winter is high on my list of favorite times, and I can't wait for it to get here.

Shouldn't Do This

I don't want to keep posting cuz I want everyone to keep reading my post about Sara. I have been saying since about the summer that I knew Sara was the one for me, but I wasn't even completely sure sure of myself. I mean, I knew that we would probably one day end up together, but at that time there was no way I would have been able to ask her, even if I did have a steady paycheck and wasn't merely 19 years old. It just didn't seem right for me yet.

Well, about two weeks ago Sara's cousin got married and she was one of the bridesmaids. I rode up with her sister, Liz, and met the rest of her family there in Ft. Wayne. When I finally saw Sara up in front of everyone and wearing that beautiful dress, I thought to myself, "wow, she is astoundingly beautiful". I couldn't get over that feeling. I couldn't take my eyes off of her. I just kept havving to remind myself that she was my girlfriend. She could have chosen anybody she wanted. What I saw in her would make any man beg for her company, just to spend a second of their life with her. And yet, she was with me. I couldn't believe how lucky I had become. Needless to say I had good time at the reception, what with her by my side.

I told myself not to think too much into it, because it was probably just that sappy feeling you get when you are at weddings. You see two people getting married who are in love and everybody is happy and life is just so jolly and perfect. But the thing is, these feelings have not eluded me since. Even after I have been frustrated with her, when I most expect them to disappear, they still reappear, and appear just as strong.

I love this girl with all of my heart, and I want everybody to know that. Sara Christine Boltz is the most gorgeous woman on the face of the earth! And she always will be.

When I walk around campus, and go to hockey practice, I constantly hear people talking about how much they drank the night before or which party they were at, and the first thing that comes to mind is, "I would like to go out, but I would so much rather be spending my life with Sara".

So this is for you babe. I love you. I can't wait to see you again. I can't wait to tell you that I love you. I want to give you the world. I want to hold you in my arms and tell you that everything is going to be okay. I want to protect you from all that is bad, and give you all that is good (did I just repeat myself?). I want to see nothing but happiness in your eyes. I want to see your pretty smile all day long and your heart filled with joy. I love you Sara, and nothing will ever change that.

Happy late Birthday to me

I turned 20 years old yesterday morning at 12:01. I don't know about most people, but when people always ask me how it feels to be ___ years old, I have to say that it doesn't feel any different. It's just another day. It doesn't feel any different than the one before when I was one 19 years and 364 days old.

However, 20 is a little different. Maybe it's the sense that I am now out of my teen years, or the fact that I have always seen people in their twenties as older, grown up, and more mature. Not really old in the sense of very far ahead in years with wrinkles and gray hair, but older in the sense that they seemed to have been through the younger parts of their lives already and they are moving on to the next stage.

But enough with my thougts (I'm sure there a lot more to come on later posts), and on with what happened on my birthday weekend, which I am sure you are all dying to here about. Well, it started on Friday after my hockey game in Lansing. My parents and brother came and watched, and we headed back to my brother's apartment for the night. Kyle lives about two hours away in St. Joseph, MI. The next day Kyle, Dad, and I went to the shooting range where Kyle is a member, and we shot handguns and rifles. It was a great time. Of course I won all of the contests (ok maybe not, but I did well...except for the pinching my finger in the chamber when I cocked the 40 cal. handgun). We then headed back to BG to watch the varsity hockey team play Boston College. My game followed, and we again lost, badly. The next day was Sunday and my family was excited to go to my church again. They enjoy my church (Cedar Creek Church in Perrysburg, OH.... aroundthecreek.com ). Sara was supposed to come and join us, but she woke up late and missed it. So she went out to eat with us after the service.

My parents left. Kyle stayed. Sara stayed. We hung out for a while playing the Atari that Sara got me for my present (yes, Atari....with 40 games built into it so you dont even have to worry about trying to find Atari games. Isn't that a sweet gift?). We also went ice skating with Ryan and Holly. We came back, and Kyle left. Sara and I just hung out for a while, laughing and having a good time. It eventually turned into a small food fight with the cupcakes that mom had made for me (dont worry mom, we only wasted two or three). It started off Saturday with a wedding. Sara's cousin Courtney got married. I finally discovered a liking for dancing. I never enjoyed that much, except for an occasional slow dance with Sara. However, once you go to a a wedding with Sara's family, it just changes you. After watching people like Phil just going out on the floor and having fun, it's contagious. You laugh for a bit because Phil just has that effect, and then you think, "that looks like fun". It was a good night and I got to be with Sara's family, who I have come to love and respect a lot.

We (Sara and I) headed back to Taylor afterwards, and I got to hang out with some friends I hadn't seen in a while. Our friend Ray put on a surprise birthday/anniversary party for his girlfriend, and I also got to see my good friend Jordan DeMerchant. I always have a good time when Jmerch and I hang out. We don't get to as much since we are growing up, but we have always had a good time and it continues whenever we see each other. I hope we can continue to find time to stay good friends.

Another plus is getting to see my former youth pastor. Jim Marker is one of those guys that I look up to and always can have confidence in. He took Sara and I out to lunch. It's always good to see and talk to Jim. And if I am on the subject of mentioning adult figures that I look up to, I also have to mention Jmerch's dad Ross. He is amazing. Thank you for all the good times guys!

I would like it if I stopped getting comments on here that just advertise other blogs or other websites. Last year was the whole thing with "The Way", and last week we went bowling, so tonight was the first small group experience I have had where we actually discussed a topic with a normal outlook.

We discussed a chapter from the book Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell. It was a deep discussion and I thoroughly enjoyed it. To sum up what was said in the chapter I would say that everything good comes from God. However, this does not even come close to describing the point that Bell was trying to get across or the way that we talked about it. We talked about trying to notice the beauty in everything. How just not sinning is not enough. How truth is truth no matter if it is found in a Christian church or Muslim community.

I had a great time at Dan and Sam's house. I am also meeting new people that live there and making more friends. I am definately looking forward to more good times over there and can't wait to see where my friendship ends up with Dan and Sam.

Found an interesting one

I was searching for some pictures of hockey fights for my desktop background when I came across an interesting article. As it turned out, it was a group called "The Way" that was one spring short of a mattress, one drink short of a party, a few bricks short of a house, one string short of a raquet, one step short of a dance, one flower short of a garden, a few beans short of a farm, a few cattle short of a ranch, one click short of a channel surfer, one shout short of a loyal fan. Well I think you get the idea. Anyway, I have once again found a Bible study, but this one is more of what I have been looking for. The first time I attend, we go bowling. Ok, so that wasn't the part of the Bible study that I look for, but I had a good time. Two of the people in the study are ones that I know from last year. Sam is the Jr. High pastor at my church and I lived with Dan for a few weeks last year before I went home for the summer. Dan goes to the vineyard in Toledo. There are about three other guys in it and they all live together. Dan explained how the group works and it goes something like this:

Each week a different person leads. They pick a topic that they either have been thinking a lot about, came across while they were reading their Bible, or are just interested in. He presents it, and then we discuss it.

Pretty simple, but exactly what I was looking for. And it's with people that I already know and are my friends. Another good thing came from the first night as well...

As we were bowling, Sam and Dan started trying to convince me to forget about BG and go to Toledo so I could live with them. I told them I couldn't because I wanted to play hockey. Then Sam informs me that next year, if he is full-time with his job, he wants to buy a house. He asked me if I would live with him if he bought one in Rossford (which is about 15 minutes from BG). Of course I answered "definately". He said not to forget that I said that, and I replied that I had been absolutely serious.

Well now that this has turned into my longest post ever, it is time for me to go. Homework needs to get done sometime today. And Sara, if you are reading this...you are the greatest girl a guy could ask for. I am very lucky to have you, and I can't wait until Wednesday when we see each other again.

Pulled a Freshman one this time

This morning I skipped my 10:30 class cuz I was really tired and needed to sleep. I get there, and I'm writing some stuff in my notebook, so I'm not really paying attention to who is coming in or anything. When it's finally time for class to start I hear my teacher start to talk. I think to myself, umm.....my teacher is a guy, and that is definately a woman's voice. took a 4-0 deficit during both games. its pretty hard to comeback from 4-0. we lost 4-2 and 4-3 respectively.

i didnt keep count, but i drew about 5 penalties in the first game. i played tough and hard; i also killed penalties regularly and very effectively. besides the loss, i felt great and thought i had a great game. the second wasnt as good personally i thought, but evidentally the coach did. i was slotted as center for the third/fourth line, checking lines. towards the end of the second game the coach replaced the the second line center, a scoring line, with me. we scored on our second and final shift together. after the game, the coach told me that i would be staying on that line. so its the first time ive been playing on a scoring line. its pretty exciting and im looking forward to it.

i got a little mad this morning when i was working out. my neighbor and i lift weights in the morning on tuesdays, thursdays, and fridays. today i was having ryan (my neighbor) do some barbell lunges (i wasnt doing them because i hurt my ankle last night at practice). anyway, he hasnt lifted that much so i didnt have a lot of weight on the bar, partly so he doesnt do too much weight too soon, and partly so he can feel the balance and get used to the lift. anyway, this other guy walks up and says "hi, im a physical therapist. you shouldnt use a bar for beginners. you should use dumbbells so they can get used to the balance first." yeah, and i worked all summer, and last year as a personal trainer, shut up. although i see your point, and i believe that would work, it isnt the only way. thats why we didnt have a lot of weight on if you didnt notice. some people have a better sense of balance than others, and they may be able to start with a bar. now piss off.

if you hadnt noticed, i dont like it a lot of times when people tell me how to do something. just ask sara, shell tell you not to tell me how to drive. it just made me a angry. people in the weight room may come up and ask if you need a spot or something, but they dont go around telling other people how to lift, ESPECIALLY if they cant lift more weight than you. we were about the same size (he was a little taller), and i watched him and we lifted about the same weight. so dont tell me how to lift if you cant do it any better. and oh yeah, try to find some manners inside of you too.
if youre looking for some fun....

so if you are ever bored and looking for something to do i have a plan, and let me tell you, you will get a laugh. first, go to a movie with about three other friends that is not very good so you can make fun of it. next, drive through downtown bowling green so you can yell random things at people as you drive by, knowing that they are drunk. third, pull into meijer (at this point you and your friends should be laughing pretty hard) and start looking for the boxing hands of "the thing" from the fantastic four, the ones that make crashing noises when you hit them, that one of your friends has been talking about. when you find the hands make sure that it is by the aisle with nerf guns (this will force you and the rest of your buddies into buying needless items like suction cup bow and arrows and blow guns with extra nerf darts). during your browsing of the hands and guns, brainstorm about what you are going to do with them when you get back to your dorm. finally, when you arrive at your dorm, make sure that you know your roommate is in your room with his girlfriend, have your keys ready, and open the door and let loose! when you are done firing let "the thing" run in and start punching your roommate.

this is a four step plan to finding a good laugh. hope it works as well for you as it has for me.
<img width='1' height='1' starting in on my kinesiology classes (the study of human movement) for my physical education/teacher education major. my first two are educational dance and eduacational gymnastics. two subjects season."

finally! i can finally look forward to watching some nhl hockey next season! maybe my blues will actually have a shot to do well in the playoffs this year and win the type='text'>so sorry

ok so its been forever since i have done anything to this blog of mine. so much has changed as you can probably imagine. i am back in indiana and working TWO jobs! thats right, two for the man that never had a job before. saras sister and mom are in france watching the tour de france. my cousins are getting back from a cruise today (which by the way was in the caribbean, nice place to go when there is a hurricane). but perhaps the biggest change is my hockey life. i didnt make any of the junior teams. not because i wasnt good enough, but because they would rather take somebody that may be a little less skilled but has more time to develop. in other words i am too old. so i am headed back to bg, but the difference is i will probably not be playing any more hockey. i can devote more of my time to other things like getting more involved with the church, bringing up my gpa, and just spending more time with my friends like i never got to do because i was always playing hockey. well i believe that is all for now. i will try to keep better tabs on this.

and if liz and carol are reading this, i hope you are having a good time in france and we all miss you back here. cant wait to see you again!
a good day

so i had a good day yesterday. it started off with me going to play open hockey again, and not puking this time. thank goodness. i dont know what that was. it wasnt because i was out of shape. i wasnt any more tired than usual. it didnt even come right away. it was like my body just wanted to puke cuz it hadnt in so long. anyway, there were some really good players there this time. one guy played in college, another in the nahl, which is the league im trying out in this year, and yet another played in the canadian junior A ranks. and they were all on the other team. so there was some better competition this time around. it also showed me where i need to be at the tryouts so that was cool.

after that i came back home and aaron had gotten off his internship early. so we hung out for a bit until he went to class, then when he got back we snatched dan's student id card to get me into the toledo rec center. that was a good time. we worked out and then played some basketball. neither one of us are that good so it took a while for us to complete a game of
h-o-r-s-e because neither one of us could make the initial shot.

we came home after that and chilled for a bit until i said "hey do you want to go see star wars?". so we went and watched star wars, for $9.50!!!!! toledo has frickin expensive movies. anyway, it was by far the best of the first three episodes. dan didnt go with us cuz he had to work, but after the movie aaron and i were talking about how there actually seemed to be a lot of truth behind the movie and how we should all try to be jedi. like the disciples. straight up goin around heeling people and stuff. they were jedi man. it was one of the most nerdy conversations i have had, but it was a good talk. we both admitted to that.
<img width='1' height='1' "tj you dumb dog!" was as common of phrase as "mom im hungry". im sure it got a little overbearing at times and he felt bad about himself from everyone ganging up on him. well here in toledo we dont do that, instead we turn it into a question for jack to think about rather than feel like the outcast. "jack what do you do with your life?" is the way we do it here. it gets the point across without having to put someone down. its constructive because it makes him think rationally about what he is type='text'>finally!!!

i called the walmart from muncie, again. and guess what, they finally accepted the transfer! thats right i can finally come home for the summer. we just started a new pay period so i have to finish this one out here in toledo, but then i am on my way back to my life in muncie, indiana. my first day is tuesday the 31st. however, i have that weekend off as well since our weeks start on saturday so i will be home for memorial day weekend. its not much earlier than if i had just taken a personal leave after i had been hired for 90 days (june 1), but this way i still have a job.

also, jack has been a bad dog. i came home from work the other day when nobody was home and he had eaten the house. there were blinds down, he had chewed up some of aarons lonestar stuff, tax stuff, it was a mess. then dan got home and as we were making some food before watching national treasure jack pooped on the floor. dan was about ready to shoot him. needless to say jack got the "jack stick", an old magazine we taped together that we use to spank him when stuff like this happens. he has learned to run away and hide when we pick it up. he also farts a lot when he sleeps and it smells more rotten than anything i have smelled in my life.
i did it again

so i got back to my usual start of the hockey season, puking. until high school i puked at least once during the season, and usually because of overexerting myself. that was the case again this year. i went to the tam-o-shanter arena to play some pick up hockey today at noon. it was fun and it kept me on the ice so i can get ready for the tryouts again this year. well after everyone was leaving i decided to stay and do some extra work, like i always do. i decided against shooting, stick handling, and power skating this time and to go straight for conditioning. i skated blue-line-to-blue-line-and-then-again-a-few-times. well after this occured a few times i was dead, especially since i had already been skating for about an hour and a half with all but about two or three breaks. i was resting on the bench when i felt it hit, "oh no" i thought to myself and started heading for the side. it came and it came hard. picture walking to the bathtub in the morning and turning the faucet on and off for about two seconds and you will have a rough idea of what was going on. when all was said and done the size that was left on the floor was about the size of my hockey bag, which for all of you out there that dont know what that is picture a medium built adult in the fetal position and i may be a little bit bigger. so now i know that my training for next season has officially begun, and i have a little ways yet until i am in shape for jr a's.
almost there

so finals week is this week. im almost done with my first year of college. needless to say there wasnt an exuberant amount of book learning that went on, but i did learn a lot about life and how to live on my own. stuff just makes more sense once you move out of a sheltering parental control. not to say that i lived a sheltered life, i lived a childhood that many children dream about. however, i would say that living under your parents definately can blind you from many realities of life.

i have two more tests left and then it is off to columbus with sara and her siblings to witness jon stewart at his finest for a little celebratory end of school! well at least for me anyway. see sara and liz still have what is called a few weeks of school left. and her other brother, sister, and brother-in-law are what we like to name "graduates". yeah, theyre off in the real world. so for landon meyers it will be an occasion of celebrating the end of a long, grueling, working year of studying and test taking and the start of a short summer filled with more work, fun, and hope of making another junior team. for the other boltz's and karki's im sure it will be another step of making enjoyable memories with their brother and sisters, and one tag along who thinks he is a part of their cherished family (wonder who that one is, lol).
<img width='1' height='1' watching father of the bride part II. ok, so it wasnt tears flowing sobbing uncontrolably, but i fought it and eventually i felt a drop of wetness going down the cheek. it wasnt a sad cry, it was a happy one, so maybe that makes up for something. it was when steve martin was holding both babies in his arms, one a daughter, and one a grandson. the reason i did this was because (and this is the type='text'>the nhl

a quote from the nhl's chief executive bill daly:
"While we continued to discuss various issues relating to the concept that was introduced at our April 4 meeting, no substantive progress toward a new agreement was made. The parties have agreed to arrange a more aggressive meeting schedule over the next several weeks in an attempt to move the process forward. We remain committed to doing everything we can to reach a negotiated solution as soon as possible."

are you serious? committed to doing everything you can, i sincerely disagree. the only updates i have heard since the lockout began has been "we met and decided to meet again". nothing gets accomplished. when you meet to NEGOTIATE you have to compromise. it seems that all you do is....well nothing. ive seen the players offer to take a 24% paycut, but it wasnt part of your plan, so you reject it. negotiate means come to a middle ground, not wait for the other side to completely fall for your side. you are never going to get anything accomplished and there will never be an nhl again if you keep this up. thanks a lot.
thinking

ive been doing some thinking over my deeper posts, and i think that they are coming across the wrong way. maybe i can try and clarify this again.

god does set out some rules as to which we should abide by. this is the reason that christ died and rose again, to forgive us of our sins. however, i dont think that we, as christians, should be so caught up in rules, rules, rules that it dominates our lives. we shouldnt be looking at the specks of sawdust in each others eyes (matthew 7:3-5). instead we should love each other and let god do the rest. if we love people, they will be drawn in, and then the holy spirit can do the work and they will be convicted. we will never convict anyone. in fact, i think when we try, it actually drives people farther away. if we love god, and other people more than ourselves, that is what should dominate our lives. and if we do love god, then trying to follow his rules will come naturally. not to say we will be perfect, because we never will, but the we will want to be our best for him, and others will see that.

i havent bought it yet, but aaron uher showed me a book called inside out by dr. larry crabb. in it there was a section that described what i am trying to say very well. when i buy it, i will quote it on here. until then, i hope this clears up what i have been trying to say.
<img width='1' height='1' mentions that his kid's team always started off the year with a thanksgiving tournament in columbus. i said "wait a minute, what was it called". he replies "the st. charles thanksgiving classic". you gotta be kidding. i was there two out of the three years i was playing for lawrence. he said he thought he even remembered the lawrence team. we both agreed that the st charles classic was our type='text'>aaron uher night

so i spent the night and my friend aarons house last night. it was really good. i hadnt seen him since the beginning of the semester, and its always a good time when i hang out with him. hes a great guy. we had a good talk until four in the morning about spiritual stuff. i told him about my experience with "the way". when i mentioned how they handle the whole speaking in tongues and prophecy thing, he said he wanted to go so he could videotape it and laugh at it later. after a little bit he asks, "wait a minute, what do they call themselves?" "The way." "Hahaha, I've heard of them, they are messed up."

Then he showed me was has to be the pimpest car in the universe. he drives and old, beige, dodge plymouth. however, his passenger side front door had stopped working, and his solution to the problem was genius. instead of getting it fixed, he gets the idea to just turn the seat backwards, that is, facing the back of the car instead of the front. its amazing. we hopped in and took a cruise in it. it was at night, but i just wanted to roll up in front of someone with my arm hangin in the window, and just look at them and nod the "hey whats up", or maybe the two finger wave. i want to see the reactions people would have.

much better than the last

this is a much better website than the last one i suggested. you have to check out "buffalo fan appreciation day". it also has both of scott stevens' famous hits on lindros and kariya.

http://www.broadstreetbully.com/join.html

clarification

i would like to clarify on what i think is important. im not saying that i think we can go and do whatever we want, thats ludicrous. God did set some basic rules to live by, which i completely respect and belief we should abide by. however, i do not believe that they should be taken to either extreme. i also believe that just because we may slip up once in a while doesnt mean that we are hethans. we are not perfect, that was the whole point of the cross. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice, so that we may have eternal life with him. he knows we arent perfect. he doesnt expect us to be perfect. but he does expect us to put forth our effort to be the best we can according to his word. he sees our heart. he sees what we love, whether we love him or are just putting on an act.

not anymore

so ive decided that "the way" is wacko. i talked to my parents, my youth pastor, and sara about it and how i thought that through the whole thing it was a little different. well after i went to work last night, sara did a little more research. this is some of the stuff we found according to www.carm.org (christian apologetics and research ministry). "it denies the doctrine of Trinity, the deity of Jesus, the personhood and deity of the Holy Spirit, and salvation by grace." "In regards to the Holy Spirit, Wierwille draws a distinction between the Holy Spirit and the holy spirit. The first is the same thing as the God the Father. Second is an emanation or power from God." "Jesus was not born of a virgin." "The Way also teaches that Jesus was raised on Saturday and that there were four people crucified with Him, not two." "Additionally, only true believers who lived after Pentecost will be saved." "Speaking in tongues is taught as a mandatory practice and part of salvation to be cultivated by the members daily." "Also, the Way teaches that once a person is saved, he cannot sin in his spirit. His body and soul can sin, but not his spirit -- this can lead to sinful practices that are said to not affect the spirit of a person."

is that not messed up theology? i think that they are way off and have some issues with their heads. anyway, i dont think im gonna make another appearance on their tuesday and thursday night meetings.

oh yeah

cool site you should check out: http://crashingthenet.com/

the way

so i went to that bible study tonight. its actually a ministry that is international. its called the way. they have a website: www.theway.org . anyway, it was a little bit different than im used to to say the least. it started off normal, you know a couple songs and some prayer, nothing out of the ordinary, but then all of sudden, it hit. as we are praying the leader asks this guy to speak in tongues, and he did it! and then he interprets it. and then the leader calls on another to do the same, and he does. following this a couple of girls gave a word of prophecy. i even peeked a look a couple of times to see if they were reading it, cuz to me it sounded kinda like it was rehearsed or read. but they had their eyes closed. wrong? couldnt say so. different? most definately. i have really decided yet what i think of all this. i mean, there are a few accounts of people speaking in tongues in the bible. so its definately nothing wrong, as long as we know that it is god speaking and not just us making up stuff.

what i think is important

so i had a good time after class today. i was walking back with this girl named stephanie from my french class. i had found out before that she is a christian. we had a good discussion about beliefs and everything. it was so good to talk about that kind of stuff with someone else. i was happy to meet somebody that had a lot of the same beliefs as i do. we talked about how other "christians" get so uptight about specifics and miss out on what God can truly offer. stuff like "if you cuss then you must not have the love of God in you and you cant be a christian beacause no true christian would ever do a thing like that".

stupid. first of all, what does the bible say about cussing. it says not to have a vulger mouth and not to take the lords name in vain. ok, so dont say "oh my G__." and dont sound like dirty trash. so what if a little "oh shit" comes out every now and then. is that vulgar? i dont believe so. if it is all the time and you sound like you dont know any other words then its different, that is what i see as vulgar. and people saying "you have to go preach the gospel to people".

ok, i believe you shouldnt feel like you HAVE to go preach. it should be that you WANT to share Gods love. and thats another thing, Jesus didnt call us to "preach", he called us to be disciples of Him. he called us to live like he did. how was that? love. just be with people and love them and they will see god in you. look at how Jesus lived his life. he didnt just go to a city and start preaching. he loved people. people would follow him around, and when they saw his love and what he was they would want to know more, or see more. THAT is when Jesus would preach or perform a miracle. otherwise he was hangin out eating with tax collectors, or out fishing with his buddies. he was love, and people followed that, and when they were hooked on it they wanted more.

christianity isnt about being perfect, its about having the love of christ, and a personal relationship with him. its about having him be the lord of your life. if we were perfect there would be no need for him to do what he did on the cross, and then rise up from the dead. i believe that far too many christians get caught up in the specifics of the dos and donts that they miss out on all that christianity can be. yes, you should be the best you can, but that doesnt mean that if you mess up then youre damned to hell. its all about love, and nobody can love like Christ did, does, and always will. just love him back and people will want to see more. you dont need to go around shoving it in their faces, because then they will just push you away, and i probably would too if i was in their shoes.

anyway, that is what i believe, but i have to get to work. good talk. i love you all!!!

this is bad

so has this ever happened to anyone? you come back from class and hop on your computer. you see you have an instant message from someone so quick read it, chuckle, then close it and move on. BUT, when you move on, your computer wont let you. For some reason it wont connect you to the internet. you keep clicking that little icon, but nothing happens. so you figure you will just restart you computer and hopefully everything will be fine. but whenever you move your cursor to the start button it turns into an hourglass like it is loading something, and therefore you cannot open the start menu to restart your computer. so you decide just to hold the power button until it shuts off. now that finally works, and when you start it back up, NOTHING! your computer completely wipes out everything you had. no saved documents. no downloads off of the internet. you have to re-enter your username and password so it will automatically sign you on to instant messanger. well if it never happened to you, it did to me just now. so now i have no saved pictures. i had downloaded blubster so i could get some cool tunes, thats gone. the papers and rough drafts that i was going to revise are gone. dang. i am frustrated. but it is time to go to class now and test my french knowledge.
fight in an adult league game? no way!

i made my first adult league game last night, and i have a story to go with it. there was a minute left to play in the last period, and my team is up by one. we have control of the puck down in their end. they gain possesion and break out. the guy carrying the puck is quite a bit larger than me, but have you known me to back off? i go after him along the boards and tie him up and start fighting for the puck. as this is going on, he loses his balance and falls down. he then grabs my stick so i cant go anywhere. then he starts yelling at me to get off of him, very logical seeing as the reason i am on top of him is because he is holding me there. granted i wasnt trying really hard to get off, but he was still holding me there. well the longer i am there, the more angry he becomes. he starts to yank on my stick and it pulls me on top of him. so now i am kneeling on his back as he is on his knees. his teammate sees me on top of him and comes after me. the next thing i know i feel an arm around my head/neck and being thrown around. well i cant see much since there is a glove in my face and my head is being jerked around, but for a split second i can see what is in front of me. i see the guy i was on top of coming towards me, and then i see him flying across the ice. my teammate, raf, had come and just plain laid him out. it was amazing. raf is built really well and pretty tall, in other words, hes a big guy. well now this guy is REALLY pissed off. so he picks a fight with raf. well nobody cares about me anymore cuz there is an actual fight going on. well nothing came out of it really, as they had a hold of each others jersey, the guy was talking up himself "you dont want to, you dont want this". whatever, you dont know raf. but nothing happened. so they didnt even get a fighting penalty, and we faced off and won the game. it mightve helped that everyone on my team was on the club team, and the two refs doing the game were on the team too. i dont know, but there might be a possibility.

so yet another adult league game that ends up in a fight. big surprise there.
heres to being off for a while

well i know that i havent been the best at keeping this thing updated, and according to the comments you guys know that, heh. ive gotten really busy lately. i got my job at walmart (hurray!) and then it was spring break, but enough complaining. this isnt going to be another blog that will just piss and moan about everything. thats not my style.

honestly i dont really feel like writing a ton because i am just lazy right now. but i did have a good weekend to end my spring break. i worked most of it, but thursday through sunday was good. if you want to read about it sara posted it on hers ( sara1021.blogspot.com ). then on sunday my cousins kristi had her baby, mckenna kristen.

ive discovered that i REALLY like my french class. yes, i do enjoy learning another language, but its more than that. its a really fun class to be in. first off, its a smaller class, about 15 or so. then there is my teacher. she is a grad student so she has the seniority that makes her students hold a respect for her as a teacher, but shes close enough to our age that she understands us. we joke around in that class so much that its just fun, but we also accomplish what we need to. to top it off i found out that the girl i sit beside and another guy are christians. its just nice to know that you have fellow christians by you sometimes. you dont get that too often here in bg. especially since it always seems like i have something going on when its the night to go to small groups or something.
<img width='1' height='1'
